The fabric we used to make this crop top, is called ntutuere in Cameroon, or fugu/batakari cloth in Ghana. It is handwoven by a group of local handweavers from Foumban called Gic anab.
Ntutuere is one of the most distinctive fabric from Western Cameroon which has gained national significance in the last couple of years.
With the evolution of fashion and style, fashion houses have begun to create fashion-forward dress pieces and garments from the Ntutuere cloth.
It features a plaidish fabric, and was introduce in the Western region of Cameroon by the Sultan NJOYA. The technique was taught by Foulbe from Northern Cameroon. It was originally worn solely by kings, but now it is popular in the whole country.
Foumban is an artistic town in Cameroon. It takes 5 to 20 days to get a 60cm×4m strip of cloth, before sewing.
For that reason, kindly allow us up to 13 days to get you this original top.
The fabric is in 100% cotton from North Cameroon. Various designs can be made available in this fabric. Light it is perfect for hot temperatures. We can have it made heavy for cold season. Simply ask us if needed (no additional charge).
The crop top has no lining and has two covered buttons on the back for closure.
