The Artwork
The image is a 2006 etching entitled ‘Jelu Nkisi’ by elder Nigerian artist Olisa Nwadiogbu. Olisa is a multi-disciplinary creative- Painter, Sculptor, Printmaker, bronze caster and cultural activist.
His works are the products of his imagination captured in oil colours, acrylics, watercolors, metal foils, glue, resin, bronze etc.

Olia comments that: “As a multimedia artist; drawing and painting of figures provide the basis of my artistic adventures and career. Since artistic vision revolves around a given society and hence the artist, My thrust as one of the nation's consummate artists remains message, entertainment, and nature driven aesthetics. “

The influences of his works include Nigerian masters and African sculptures with themes that include traditional and contemporary concepts and narrative statements influenced by the environment, politics and humanitarian dispositions. His work has been included at auctions such as: 2015: Bonhams Modern Africa, London, 2010:, and Art House Contemporary Civic Centre, Lagos.
