Because scarfs are a key element of Duala elegant men traditional look, we designed this scarf. Headwraps in the other hand help to complete the traditional look of elegant Duala women, we did this scarf unisex, in Tetoura. Tetoura is one of the most distinctive fabric from Cameroon. It is a handwoven fabric, who was introduced in the Western Cameroon, Foumban (an artistic town) by the Sultan NJOYA in the 17th century (king of Bamoun Kingdom). The technique was taught by Foulbe from Northern Cameroon. It was originally worn solely by kings, but now it is popular in the whole country. Also known as fugu/batakari cloth in Ghana, akwete in Nigeria, tetoura cloth has gained national significance in the last couple years. With the evolution of fashion and style, fashion houses have begun to create fasion-forward dress pieces and garments from the tetoura fabric, such as this designer scarf. We made the design (digital picture) of the scarf, and sent it to our partner, to get it handwoven. The scarfs are handwoven by a group of local handweavers from Foumban, called GIC ANAB.
Tetoura scarf/headwrap features a plaidish fabric. The fabric is in 100% cotton from North Cameroon. The dimensions are 30cm x 2m. It takes 5 to 10 days to get a stripe. For that reason, kindly allow us up to 10 days to get you this original scarf.
This piece is a unisex piece that can be worn by both women and men. It is long enough to be worn as a scarf, and, versatile, you can also style it as a headwrap to elevate your style. Add a touch of colour to your black-white or blue-white business look with this piece. Wrap it around your shoulders to get warm, or around your hips on top of your swimsuit.
