House of Afrika was founded by Maria Hornsby-Odoi, struggling to find clothing on the high street that suited her shape she started to customise her clothing made by tailors in her motherland of Ghana. When she wore her uniquely designed pieces back in the UK, she constantly got comments, compliments and enquiries as to where these items could be purchased. After making a capsule collection which quickly sold out, she took her cue and started house of Afrika!
The collection consists of contemporary styles, timeless tailored pieces, afro-euro fusion and afro-bohemian designs. Included in House of Afrika will be handmade ethnic jewellery and eventually interior and fashion accessories.
I just received the skirt and I'm quite amazed how long it took to receive it upon seeing it. Given the quality of the sewing, a beginner could have sewn it, the belt made with elastic inside, not even a clip around the waist to refine it. I understand why the model adds a belt on the presentation photo, the skirt itself has no flavor. It's a shame, at 56€ it's not worth it, sorry! For the beauty of the fabric, I'm going to keep it and make changes to it, but you just lost a very serious customer. Best wishes.
Je viens de recevoir la jupe et je suis assez étonné du temps que cela a pris pour la recevoir en la voyant. Vu la qualité de la couture, un débutant aurait pu la coudre, la ceinture faite avec élastique en son intérieur, même pas de pince autour de la taille pour l'affiner. Je comprends pourquoi le mannequin rajoute une ceinture sur la photo de présentation, la jupe en elle même n'a aucune saveur. C'est dommage, à 56€ çà ne les vaut pas, désolé ! Pour la beauté du tissu, je vais la garder et y apporter des modifications, mais vous venez de perdre une cliente très sérieuse. Bonne continuation.
