My name Docunda. Aged 30, I was born in Paris to parents from Guinea-Bissau, a former Portuguese territory, and devote myself apart from my regular pharmacy activities, decorating gourds (fruit growing in the ground, sometimes called gourd , present on the Mediterranean basin, in Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America and Asia) with embroidery son and cloth cutouts, usually in wax. Initially attracted by making costume jewelry from shells that I bring every year of my vacation in Portugal, I rediscovered this country gourds planted here and there in various plots of the Aveiro region, south of Porto, who did not fail to arouse my curiosity as they reminded me, sometimes in miniature, these fruits I had discovered in my childhood when staying in Gabu, hometown of my mother, in the heart of Guinea Bissau. A friend who owns one of these small plots of land where grow her own gourds me offered some in Portugal, I brought a few days later in France. That was in April 2016. Used to decorate the hook thread a certain type of shells for making my jewels, the idea slowly germinated in me to adopt this technique of ornamentation to my newly acquired gourds. Thus was born a passion for a craft of a new kind, made from gourds in multiple sizes and the most varied forms, plus, for some models of wax cuts that hug the curves and tones embroidery son. All my creations are registered designs which each copy is unique and is intended exclusively for your interior. Moreover, I am dedicated to making earrings shaped mini gourds and pebbles decorated with son embroidery and rhinestones.
